Good copy + good design go hand in hand, and often they go together (or at least need to be developed in tandem).

Often, the words need to come before the design - but if you’re outsourcing to a copywriter who isn’t familiar with the way I design websites (or my strategy behind website design for small businesses), I often find myself needing to tweak or come up with extra copy anyway.

Most of my clients will also come to me with a lot of ideas, and an ability to verbalise things to me, but will totally freeze when trying to put it down in writing. In those cases, I find that workshopping on the copy with you 1:1 is one of the best + easiest ways to empower you and increase your confidence in what you do, who you do it for, and why.

This comes from my 10+ years of experience building my own business + website, as well as my years of experience mentoring + building websites for other people. I might not be formally trained in copywriting - which is why I don’t offer copywriting as a standalone service. My copywriting skills are uniquely tied to and informed by my website design + strategy - and I love combining these two skills together to create killer website makeovers.

To make sure we’re both on the same page, my payment terms are super easy.

+ a 30% non-refundable deposit is due upfront and upon signing your contract to secure your place

+ the balance of your invoice is split into two equal payments - one due at the commencement of your project

+ the balance due when the project is complete.

+ payment of any additional costs (fonts, images, licenses, and anything we’ve added to the project) is due before website launch/final files sent.

All deposits are non-refundable. As projects can be scheduled weeks and months in advance, this is necessary to ensure your spot in the queue, that I have adequate time to dedicate to your project, and that you're committed.

That entirely depends on how quickly you can complete your questionnaires. I generally allow up to four weeks for each website design project, and at least eight weeks for a copywriting & web design project. The timeline can vary depending on how quickly you provide your feedback, and how detailed your feedback is/how long it takes to implement. If things finish more quickly, then it’s a happy surprise, and if they go more slowly, it’s not a complete shock to the timeline.

As soon as you’ve signed a contract + paid your deposit, you’ll receive access to my various checklists, guidebooks + templates that will help you start writing your website content.

You will need to provide all photos, and the majority of your website copy before your project commencement date. By working through my guidebooks, you can easily prepare all kinds of content before we officially start working together (such as all your products/services/packages, your FAQs, information about you etc). Once our project starts, we’ll schedule a workshop to go through it all + do some audience and industry research, and then I’ll use all of that information to help you come up with some client-focused copy to sprinkle throughout your website too.

We go through an in-depth questionnaire and briefing process in the beginning to make sure we are on the same page, so 99% of the time 2 refinement rounds are plenty!

Sometimes things simply don't go according to plan though, and if you ultimately don't love your website and we can't find a way to bring our visions together, you are able to terminate your contract.

No further money will be owed, however you will not receive access to the website design or files created for your website. If you would like access to them, you will only owe payment based on the amount of work created. For example, if 75% of the website is complete you will owe 75% of the cost (less your deposit) as well as 100% of any additional costs.

Any part of the project that needs to be rushed, delayed or falls outside of the allotted project timeline will be made at my hourly rate or quoted for separately.

Content that comes in after the start date may be subject to fees or a deadline push.

After our project is complete, you'll have full access to your website and you can tweak it as much as you like. I'll show you how to use Squarespace during our final handover video call. Squarespace is a super user-friendly platform with great support & lots of help forums, and my goal is to empower you as much as possible to feel confident in making changes to your website moving forward.

But if you can't figure out how to make changes to your website, or you really just can't be bothered & would love to outsource it to me, please get in touch.

If you've got a question, or you just need help with something small/something I can do in less then half an hour, I'll always do my best to answer your questions, point you to a tutorial or make some small tweaks for no cost. For example, if you just need an extra button added somewhere on your website but you can't figure it out - let me know because it'll only take me 2 minutes.

If you need something more substantial, I'm available for tech support & minor work at an hourly rate. Usually I'll try to quote you upfront for the work, however if the scope is unclear I will record my time spent on the project and you'll be charged accordingly at my hourly rate.
